
Carol Apelt is Director of Operations and Business Development at CRAFT | Media / Digital.
Focusing on innovative strategic partnerships and creative problem solving to maximize organizational achievement and efficiency, Apelt has spent the bulk of her career in the nonprofit and government sectors.
She most recently served as a consultant with George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute, focusing on the development of strategies to help communities strengthen their medical resilience in disasters.
Apelt spent several years in various positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, playing a crucial role in the establishment of the National Commission on Children and Disasters and serving in leadership positions for the Office of Human Services Emergency Preparedness and Response, where she worked to further the capacity of communities to deliver critical human services following disasters. As Advisor for Strategic Planning and Policy for the Office of Community Services, Apelt collaborated with national and local leaders to deliver a variety of effective, meaningful social services to some of the most financially disadvantaged citizens across our nation.
Prior to her federal service, Apelt put her organizational and relationship-building skills to work for a variety of organizations, including Bush-Cheney ’04, Inc., Lucent Technologies, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and TACA, Inc., a North Texas nonprofit umbrella organization to the performing arts.
Apelt is a proud Austin native with a soft spot for the arts, football, and exceptional BBQ.
